Dee Douglas
Dee Douglas (born 1922) calls Merlin, Oregon, home. She is a wagon master for frontier events, parades, and rodeos. She ranched for a number of years, raised cattle, but her horses now occupy her full-time. During World War II, she learned welding, sheet metal and electrical work, and hydraulics to help out with the war effort – a regular Rosie the Riveter. Those were skills that later came in handy on the ranch. Douglas values the freedom and individuality that ranching brings but sees her life disappearing with the next generation.
