Marie-Jeanne Ansolabehere
Marie-Jeanne Ansolabehere (born 1940), from Austin, Nevada, immigrated to the U.S. from Basque Country in the Pyrenees. She spent her childhood on a ranch in Spain but always dreamed of living in America. Ansolabehere’s love for animals runs deep; she’s happy to keep a sickly calf in her kitchen or drive with a frail lamb in her car while she runs her errands. Years of drought have her concerned about the effects of climate change; springs are drying up early, making a challenging way of life even more precarious. Interviewed Austin, Nevada, 1995
