Lindy Burgess

Lindy Burgess (born 1959) of Wyarno, Wyoming, is herself what she calls “a good hand.” There is nothing on the ranch she cannot turn her hand to. She learned at a tender age how to drive a $40,000 tractor and the equipment that comes along behind. She can take the fight out of a contrary bronc, fix most things, and cut a yearling steer out of a milling bunch, turn her horse on a dime and show the determined steer who’s who. She’s a rancher of yore – the good old days – and she is a rancher of today, using computers, genetics, and the most advanced business practices. And what’s more, she’s a jazz singer, a soloist with a jazz quartet. Interviewed Sheridan, Wyoming, 1995
